March 26 - Much different start this morning compared to yesterday ... clear blue skies, temp 50 with a lite NW breeze.  Overall it was a quiet weekend, maybe everyone was working on launching their boats!  Speaking of boats,  "The Boat Shop" up the street from us is having their annual Open House this Saturday.  Lynn & Dave have some great buys on boating supplies, so get there early for a free hot dog then drive down Bay Ave & check out the new inventory in our shop.

March 25 - A damp start today, NE wind around 15 with rain.   Winter flounder fishing near the Causeway bridge (Manahawkin Bay) is bad.  Only decent reports again are from Forked River & north to Toms River.  Some more keeper stripers coming off the LBI surf on surf clams or bloodworms, not a lot, but still worth fishing thru the skates to take home a table fish.   The white perch run slowed a bit the last two days, but should throttle back up when this weather breaks.  For those of you looking to get out on a head boat, the "Carolyn Ann III" will start sailing Friday, April 6.  Trips leave the dock from 18th street in Barnegat Light at 8am & return at 2pm.  For more info, go to "LINKS" and click on CAROLYN ANN III.

March 24 - Kapt. Krankie (aka Karl) phoned in this morning that he caught a thirty inch striper off the surf in Holgate (Holyoke) on clam last night.  He also had a short & several skates.  The day has easterly winds at 10 to 15 forecasted and is blowing that at the moment.  Winter flounder opened yesterday and the only good reports I heard were from north of the "BB" buoy all the way up the the Rt 37 bridge (Toms River).

March 21 - Sounds like perch fishing is really turning on from New Gretna to Toms River.  The best bite has been an hour before sundown to sundown and on the usual baits ... grass shrimp is the popular choice along with small minnows and/or pieces of bloodworm.  Also some small bladed artificial lures work or small grub tails (chartreuse) on a very light jig-head.  A report of winter flounder in Barnegat Bay off Forked River along with a lot of rock crabs.  I guess the crabs don't realize the price of bloodworms !  Had someone in this afternoon that fished Graveling Point this morning and reported catching small (12 to 15 inch) stripers on bloods & caught an 28" on clam.

March 18 - Perch fishing is starting to pick up back in Beach Haven West & striper reports are starting to pop up literally everywhere.  Time to start fishing, don't look at the calendar, look outside!   Also, a lot of new stock arriving.  For you guys that pour your own lead ... Do-Its' new 7 & 9 ounce bank sinker mold along with a bunch more !!

March 5 -  A chilly start today, but a beautiful day on tap.  Over the weekend some bass & winter flounder (all released) were caught on bloodworms in Barnegat Bay off Forked River.  Also anglers at the power plant on Rt 9 are picking away at bass & perch.

><))))))*>

March 2 -  Another overcast morning with a light easterly wind.  I know of two stripers caught at the power plant in Forked River yesterday on bloodworms & also one of our perch guys had a couple in Beach Haven West (Mill Creek), but in no way is it hot & heavy yet ... so he said.

March 1 - Good morning on this opening day of striper fishing in the bay.  What a fishy looking day ... over-cast with a little drizzle.  I am sure the Graveling Point & West Creek Dock Road contingencies will be out in full force, so hopefully some good reports before days end.  Hear tell of a bass here & there off the LBI surf, but have not physically seen any.  Also, reports from friends in Brick that fish the Point Pleasant surf say they have had stripers all winter up there.  Have not heard of any white perch in Beach Haven West, but have heard good reports of perch in Parkertown from some of the guys that were waiting for bass to open.  Bloodworms, live grass shrimp & minnows in stock.
