October 31 -- Light south wind at the moment, but forecast is for much stronger south wind through tonight. Fresh bunker, live clams, eels & spots and green crabs in stock. October 30 -- Sal Messina (photo) caught a 33 1/2 pound striper on a live eel behind Holgate in the bay. (17:45 at)

October 29 -- At the moment, NE gusts up to 22 mph and looks like tides will be a little higher than normal. Availability of surf clams in the shell for tonight or tomorrow morning is not looking good. We do have shucked clams, salted & non salted. Also have some fresh bunker & plenty of live spots & eels. October 28 -- Just out right miserable at the moment ... east wind at 15 and heavy rain ... air temp 60. (06:00 at) SHIMANO shipment arrived with the new conventional reel , the "TALICA", which looks & feels like it will give AVET a run for it's money. Also the new Baitrunners - the 4000D, 6000D, 8000D & 12000D. A little more expensive than the prior model, but with some great improvements and a smaller model than the old 3500B. Also plenty of Butterfly & Lucanus jigs, tackle bags and the very popular Trevala jigging rods.

October 27 -- Good morning, light east wind with light rain. Surf fishing was a bit off yesterday. Just a few fish. Bay fishing was a little more productive with some of the usual rips producing bass on clams & spots. Fresh bunker along with live spots & eels in stock. Out of surf clams at the moment, but will have them in some time this morning. (05:50 at) East wind has picked up, easy 10 knots and rain is a bit heavier. (07:00 at) Just weighed a couple bass brought in by "The Mayor" & Electric Jim (photo). Fish from 28 to 34 pounds caught on eels Barnegat Bay. October 26 -- Some early morning bluefish hitting on the surf. Wind is 10 out of the NE and forecast all week is easterly winds ... should turn the surf on. Fresh bunker & clams in stock along with live spots & eels. (07:30 at) Eric Parker (photo) just weighed in two stripers weighing 17 & 24 pounds caught on eels in the bay in Beach Haven. October 23 -- A late weigh-in by Dawson Smith (photo) yesterday ... a 24 lb striper caught in Holgate near buoy 110 on eel. Reports of some bass on the troll north of Barnegat Inlet. A bass here & there on the LBI surf on clams & bunker. Plenty of clams & bunker in stock at the moment. The blackfish bite also very good on some inshore wrecks along with some ling. (07:15 at) Reports from the Beach Haven surf of stripers up to 31 pounds, weighed in at Jingle's. Fish were caught on bunker. Margaret also reported the some boats had bass out in Little Egg Inlet up to 37 pounds, but they had to come in due to the wind. (12:10 at) Bluefish up to 10lbs and bass are being caught in the surf right now from Brant beach to Beach Haven but you need at least 10oz to hold bottom (15:16 pb)

October 21-- Paul Presto and Anthony Battoni (photo) weighed in 3 nice bass yesterday, the 3 fished weighed 18lbs,27lbs and 28.5lbs. Fishing clams on the beach have been producing some nice fish. Guys have also been catching fish around double creek using clams and live spot. (6:40 pb)

October 20 -- Good reports from the surf again today. Had a customer bring by two stripers he caught on clam in North Beach Haven. He also saw other people catching fish. Fish were 10 to 12 pounds and full of calico crabs. (11:20 at)

October 19 -- It's nice to see that bout of weather behind us. Wind 10 knots out of the NW - temp 40 F . Hopefully have some reports later today. Some people in this morning for clams and going to give it a try. Forecast for the rest of the week looks great ! (07:30 at) Reports of stripers up to 34" on the surf on surf clams. Surf is a little rough, but definitely fishable and should just keep getting better. (12:50 at)

October 14 -- The clam bite has started in Barnegat Bay, primarily in Double & Oyster Creek channels. Some fish around the jetties in the inlet, but the larger fish are back in the bay with the cooler water. October 11 -- Sal Mastroni (photo) just weighed in a striper weighing 18 3/4lbs & 35inches long. It was caught using clam around double creek channel. Some bass are starting to show up around the inlets and a few on the surf. Bait of choice has been fresh bunker, clams, live eels & live spot. Also along the surf some croakers are still being caught along with some bluefish ranging from 3-10lbs. Bay fishing has been slow but they're still catching some blowfish and snapper-cocktail size blues. Blackfishing is doing good on the wrecks and along the jetties at Barnegat light, best bait for them is green crabs. (12:20 pb)

October 8 -- Only surf reports from yesterday and just a few of them. Before the sand blasting on LBI yesterday some croakers & small blues were caught and the water was dirty. North of Barnegat Inlet on Island Beach some bigger blues. Wind is down a little today and is suppose to diminish tonight. Plenty of bunker & clams in stock along with live spots & eels. (06:40 at)

October 5 -- A beautiful cool fall morning, light wind out of the west picking up to 15 to 20 later today. Blowfish still the best ticket in town with reports from yesterday of puffers in Ship Bottom & Forked River (near BB buoy). Blackfishing slowed a bit this weekend on the sod banks & a lot of small ones on the south jetty in BL. Surf is still producing kingfish, croakers & small blues with an occasional striper. Crabbing out in the bay has slowed, but crabbers in the lagoons & creeks are reporting very good catches with some nice size jimmies. Now's the time to stock pile some crab meat for those winter time crab cakes ! (06:20 at) Some surf action to report from North Beach ... a load of anchovies being pushed onto the beach by snapper blues. Light spinning tackle & a small Hopkins or Krocodile for loads of fun. October 2 -- Not much to report. Some stripers being caught in both Barnegat & Beach Haven Inlets on live spots & eels and blue / white or black poppers or plugs. Nothing big, but some keepers. We have plenty of fresh bunker, live spots, eels and surf clams in stock and will be open tomorrow at 5:30 am.
